Acting Staff Assistant Surgeon Neville Gray du Vernet Parker

Neville Gray du Vernet Parker was the son of Elizabeth Mary Sheldon Wyer (1796-1886) and Neville Parker, a lawyer and Judge of the Supreme Court of New Brunswick.
1851 Aged 19 years, he was a student of medicine at Edinburgh, having taken lodgings at 23 Duke Street in the parish of St Mary Edinburgh.
Graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1853 with a thesis On Dyspepsia.
30 Aug 1855 Appointed Acting Assistant Surgeon. London Gazette 3443.
Malta 20 Oct 1855 Arrived from England.
Malta 9 Aug 1856 Left for England.
5 Sep 1856 Listed in the London Gazette as "ceased to do duty, there being no longer occasion for his services". Acting Assistant Surgeons were probationers. They were assistant surgeons without a permanent appointment. At the end of the war in the Crimea all the Acting Assistant Surgeons were discharged.
1891 At Jersey, Channel Islands.
16 Feb 1913 Died at Moorlands Bovey Tracey, Devon aged 81 years, He was the last surviving son of the Hon Neville Parker, Master of the Rolls New Brunswick.
