1800

17 July 1799 Capt Alexander Ball RN landed the Royal Marines from HMS Lion and HMS Success and some Portuguese marines to reinforce the Maltese insurgents in their land blockade of the French.

20 Dec 1799 The Royal Marines disembarked from HMS Culloden and HMS Northumberland and replaced the Portuguese marines who were withdrawn from Malta. The marines held the battery at Samra (Hamrun) and controlled the route to Citta Vecchia.

1800 Strength: 234 men, 0 women and 0 children.
