25 Nov 1953 Short Service Commission Lieutenant RAMC.

25 Nov 1953 Short Service Commission Captain RAMC.

1955 Junior Specialist in Medicine.

1956–1957 Served at the Military Hospital Chester.

14 Feb 1957 Permanent Regular Army Commission Captain RAMC.
Seconded to the Hospital for Sick Children Great Ormond Street as paediatric registrar.
Helped to establish the specialty of paediatrics in the armed forces, and developed a world wide evacuation service for paediatric casualties based on the Hospital for Sick children Great Ormond Street.

1957 Served at Malta.

1958 Served at Malta.

1959 Served at Malta.

10 July 1959 Major RAMC. Junior Specialist in paediatrics.

1960 Served at Malta as a paediatrician.

1962 Senior Specialist in Paediatrics.

1962–1965 Served at the British Military Hospital Iserlohn.
Command Paediatrician British Army of the Rhine.

1964 Consultant paediatrician.

10 July 1964 Lieutenant Colonel RAMC.

1965 Command Paediatrician British Military Hospital Singapore (Far East Land Force).

1974–1982 Left the army in 1974. Took up an appointment as Consultant paediatrician St Catherine's Hospital Birkenhead, and Arrowe Park Hospital, Upton Wirral.

1982–1991 Consultant paediatrician and Chief of the medical staff at the International Hospital Bahrain, where he established a successful in vitro fertilisation unit.

19 June 1994 Died of cancer of the colon aged 67 years.
