Staff Assistant Surgeon George Galland

Staff Assistant Surgeon George Galland was born in Messina on 24 May 1813. He was the son of Mary Burke and Lt James Galland Royal Malta Fencible Regiment who was born in Dublin on 17 January 1779.
Lt James Galland was the father of Ann Galland (born Messina 8 February 1811, died Malta 10 September 1844) who married Surgeon Thomas Fiddes on 15 January 1827 and of Dr Charles Galland (born Genoa 28 September 1815), who occupied the Chair of Anatomy and Surgery at the University of Malta from 1 January 1839 to 9 March 1858.

18 Dec 1835 Newly commissioned Staff Assistant Surgeon vice John Hamilton who resigned. Stationed at Ceylon.
Malta 17 Oct 1845 Arrived from Ceylon on sick leave, having left Ceylon on 20 Sep 1845.
Malta 1846 At Malta on sick leave.
Malta 8 Apr 1847 Left Malta. Retired to half-pay.
