19 Nov 1830 Promoted Surgeon 4th (King's Own Regiment) vice George MacDermott, promoted Surgeon to the Forces. On 11 Jan 1831, the vacancy in 18th Foot was offered to Assistant Surgeon Thomas Ward Jeston who had retired to half-pay 36th Foot on 24 Oct 1814. Jeston, however, commuted his commission, and Assistant Surgeon George Brown 43rd Foot took up the appointment in 18th Regiment.

1 Oct 1839 Married Anne Rachel, only daughter of Capt Enoch, Deputy Assistant Quarter Master General, at St George's Hanover Square London.
6 Dec 1839 Exchanged with Surgeon William Parry 1st Dragoon Guards.
3 Oct 1848 Staff Surgeon 2nd Class.
22 Dec 1848 Retired to half-pay.
