22 Apr 1836 Appointed Assistant Surgeon 62nd (Wiltshire) Regiment of Foot vice Assistant Surgeon Alexander Knox, promoted to the Staff vice Staff Assistant Surgeon Alexander Elliott Campbell appointed to the 1st Regiment of Life Guards, vice Assistant Surgeon Frederick Goodwin who retired on half-pay. The vacancy created on the Staff by Carr was filled by Gentleman William Hibbert who was commissioned Staff Assistant Surgeon.
15 Nov 1839 Exchanged with Staff Assistant Surgeon Henry Mapleton.
2 Aug 1842 Assistant Surgeon 71st (Highland) Light Infantry, vice John Duncan McDiarmid who exchanged to Staff.

25 Mar 1862 Retired on half-pay with rank of Honorary Deputy Inspector General of Hospitals. In retirement served as medical officer of Greenlaw Military Prison.
7 May 1867 On the death of Deputy Inspector General George Carr, his seven orphans received financial contributions from the Army Medical Officers Benevolent Fund.
