Forrest Hospital
Spinola Palace St Julian's Bay was completed in 1688 by Chev Fra Paolo Rafael Spinola, Grand Prior of Lombardy. In 1860 it was converted into a military hospital, and named after Inspector General John Forrest, PMO Malta Garrison.

Educated at Queen's College Cork. Took the Edinburgh double qualification in 1880.

5 Feb 1881 Surgeon-Captain.

1882 Served in Egypt.

1884–1885 Served in the Sudan.

1886 Served in Burma.

5 Feb 1893 Surgeon Major.

13 Oct 1894 Arrived from England.

1895 Officer in charge Forrest Station Hospital.
Resident at 6 Pembroke Camp.

29 Apr 1895 Returned to England.

1896 Officer in charge Forrest Station Hospital.

1897 Officer in charge Forrest Station Hospital.

5 June 1897 To England on leave.

13 Aug 1897 Returned to Malta.

13 Sep 1898 To England on leave.

27 Oct 1898 Returned to Malta.

13 Sep 1899 Left for Cork Ireland.

11 Oct 1899–31 May 1902 Anglo–Boer War.

1900–1901 Served in South Africa, in operations in Cape Colony, including the action at Colesberg, and in the Orange River Colony, and was mentioned in despatches (London Gazette 16 Apr 1901).

5 Feb 1901 Lieutenant Colonel RAMC.

6 Jan 1903 Retired.

28 July 1914 Start of the Great War.

4 Aug 1914 Britain declares war on Germany.

Served in the Great War.

1903–1916 Employed at York while on the retired list.

Jan 1918 Brevet Colonel.
