Captain Richard Evan Isaac was the son of a doctor. He was educated at Llandovery College and at the Welsh National School of Medicine Cardiff, qualifying in 1927. Before the war he held hospital appointments at Finchley Memorial Hospital, at Cardiff, and at Tunbridge Wells.

He worked for many years as a general practitioner in the Finchley and Barnet areas. During the war he served as a lieutenant colonel in the RAMC and served in Europe, the Middle East, India, and Malta.

From 1957 to 1958, he served as high sheriff of Cardiganshire. He was a founder member of the Aberystwyth Rotary Club and a past president of the Aberystwyth Rugby, Soccer and Athletic Clubs, and of the University of Wales Athletic Union. He was also a past Master of the Lyonsdown (Hertfordshire) Masonic Lodge and a past Provincial Grand Warden of both the Hertfordshire and South Wales Western Divisions.

Service Record

22 Feb 1943 Surgical Specialist 90 GH. Acting officer-in-charge Surgical Division 90 GH.

11 Jan 1944 On temporary duty with No 48 GH Tripolitania Area.

10 Mar 1944 Returned to 90 GH from Command North Africa Force .

7 Apr 1944 Posted to 39 GH from 90 GH.

1947 Appointed Consultant Surgeon to the Mid-Wales Hospital Management Committee based at Aberystwyth, and served in this capacity until his retirement in 1968.
